Take a look at the attached Word document. I can't seem to locate some folders and consequently content from within files as a result. I'm trying to locate some text that I know exists in some of my source code but it can't locate any of it. Initially I placed my folder at the highest level where all of my solutions reside. I then set a filter to *.vb and typed in some test to look for. Nothing was found.

As a test, I went through the motions of selecting sub-folders one at a time and discovered something. As you can see in the attachment, when I place a trailing \ after a folder name, only one folder shows up. Yet, there are actually 6 folders inside. Why don't they show?

I'm using FileSeek Pro 5.0.1

Thanks in advance,
Paul

This issue sounds very strange, can you post a screenshot of the FileSeek main window showing your Search tab and your Advanced tab? Thanks!

First, my profile is setup to receive an email if someone replies to my post. I didn't get one for this and you replied to it 11 days ago. Is there a problem with the notification system?

As requested, here is my search and advanced tab.

The Discussions notifications seem to be working fine (I got one earlier this morning), maybe it went to your spam folder?

It's really strange that nothing at all is coming up. I'm wondering if FileSeek is having trouble accessing that folder due to permissions issues on the folder. FileSeek should be running as your user account. Are the permissions on that "Output" folder different from the other folders?

The folders and the contents are all located on my desktop and FileSeek was working fine up until the date I posted this issue a couple of weeks ago.

You asked me if I was running FileSeek as my user ID. It must be and all of the files on my desktop can all be accessed by me.

Maybe this will help: If I change the "Include Files" to be *.* instead of *.vb, the results pane changes to showing all possible folders where the "query" text resides, but it doesn't go down to the sub folder and the particular files.

I just tried something else that might shed some light on this.

I navigated to a totally different folder that has Classic ASP .ASP files
I made the Include Files: *.asp
and the Query text to: form

And it displayed all of the files that contain the text form. So, what does that mean in the scheme of things?

Interesting! If you disable the "Process File Contents Using File Handlers" on the Advanced Tab, does that make any difference?

That doesn't help. Still no results.

There has to be a connection whereby I can search *.asp files for 'form' and it works but I can't search *.vb files for any text.

I have an update to this post. I had forgotten that I have another PC that I could remote into and test and it works fine. It was the same version that I paid extra for (version 5.0.1).

Could I possibly just remove and reinstall the product on my new PC? I have my license key on my old PC so I could retrieve it from there afterwards.

This morning when I opened up Fileseek, I got the option to upgrade to version 5.1 which I did hoping that that would fix the problem, but no dice.

I really need to have my search capability back as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Strange! If you backup your Settings (Settings > Options > Export) on the computer that works, and restore them on the computer that doesn't, does the search then work correctly?

I will give that a try but I just upgraded to version 5.1 on my new computer. the old one is 5.0.1.

Would the settings be compatible between the two?
