I recently moved to a new computer... I used fileseek a lot on my last project, so I re-installed it on my new computer. but it seems to behave differently, and I can't figure out what setting is incorrect.

But if I use: *.*, or another "include files:" type, every single type of that file type seems to show up in the search - but what I expect, is that it only return files of that type with the query in their name/contents (based on advanced options set of course.)

But what I am getting as the 'Line' is this for pretty much any query:

COM Object is NULL: IFilter [BFClientTools.BFNativeInterfaces+IFilter]

I think this is related to "File Handlers"... but if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Which type of files are returning that error, or is it every single file?

I have the exact same issue: lots of "COM object is NULL" and "Failed to call IPersistFile::Load " errors - please find a screenshot attached.

... but after a while, the application does find the pdf files that contain the phrase searched for correctly, see the screenshot.

It looks like the file handler for PDF files is broken on your system, so it's falling back to just a plain text search of the file. Could you try installing the PDF file handler from the link below to see if that helps? Note that you'll need to restart FileSeek before it will use the new handler.
