I just downloaded FileSeek hoping it might help me with an issue. We recently converted around 10,000 student records from microfiche to digital files (.jpeg and .tiff) but we now have no way to find an individual record since the files themselves are just numbered and not by name. I was hoping to use FileSeek to be able to search WITHIN the .jpeg or .tiff files to find student names but it doesn't seem to be working.

Can anyone help this newbie out?

Replied via your email case just now, but I'll post here as well. Unfortunately FileSeek doesn't do OCR on images, so this isn't possible with FileSeek, sorry!

If your image files contain student names or any identifying info in metadata, I recommend to use EXIV2 (open source, see here http://www.exiv2.org/) to extract this rich metadata.

To conduct search, you need File Locator Pro (download free trial version https://www.mythicsoft.com/filelocatorpro/download/) and plug EXIV2 into it. It is not difficult, see article on how to do it here: https://qa.mythicsoft.com/14808/integrate-filelocator-search-detailed-information-images
