hi,

one of the annoying things i find with win7 search is that it will return matches where 2 words might be at different ends of a document, and so arent really a match :/

can FS perform a search with an operator that means 2 words have to be close to each other?

thanks
dan

Ok, excellent! You can do that with a new experimental feature that's currently available as an Advanced Setting. Here are the steps to set it up. In this example, we'll assume you want to find the words "pizza" and "box" within 3 lines of each other.
  • Go to Tools > Settings, and click Advanced Settings
  • Set the "Line Range of Search" option to 3
  • On the Advanced tab in the main window, select the "Match query to each line in file" option
  • Also make sure the "Process File Contents using File Handlers" option is enabled
  • On the Search tab, enter your Query like this: pizza +box

Hope that helps!
