I'm a little confused by this message. Fileseek is asking me to do this for XLSX, PDF, XLS, DOCX, DOC, XLSM

But it is returning results within XLS files and DOC files, but not the other file types (DOCX, XLSX, PDF)

Tools / Settings / File Handlers has
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared Filters\offfiltx.dll listed for XLSX, XLSM, and DOCX
and
C:\Windows\System32\OffFilt.dll for DOC, and XLS

I installed the file handler from FoxIT, so it lists
C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF IFilter\pdffilt.dll for pdf

All the handlers are green (enabled?)

Thanks - looks like a great program if I can figure out these oddities.

Are you trying to search within the files? Or just for the file names themselves?

If searching within the files, enter the text to search for in the Query box, and make sure that the "Process file contents" checkbox on the right hand side is checked.

If you're just searching for the file names themselves, you can leave the Query box blank and just put your search in the Include Files box.

Thanks!

That's sooo embarrassing. Clear as the nose on my face and I didn't see it. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm loving FileSeek.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Fileseek can search *.PDF *.pptx and *.xlsx, but cannot search *.docx.
The file handlers are all enabled. It simply cannot search (query) words in *.docx files, which I use most often.
Help, please.

I'm able to search the text within .docx files without any issues.

Could you post a screen shot of the FileSeek box with your search criteria?

Also, if you go to Tools > Settings > File Handlers, is the .docx extension listed there? And if so, could you post the full path to the Handler DLL?

Thanks!

This may be the same unidentified problem experienced in this thread:

Sorry for the late reply!

Do you have the Office Filter Packs installed? Once I installed the pack I was able to search within .docx files.

Hope that helps!
