Ok, strange that they couldn't be repaired. You could try completely removing the built-in .NET Framework and then adding it again by doing the following:

Navigate to Control Panel > Programs and Features

Click the "Turn Windows features on or off" link

Uncheck "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1" and click OK

After it finishes, reboot, then go back in, enable it, and click OK again

Hope that helps!

Sorry for the confusion, the article has a lot of text to explain how it works. The basic step is just to run "sfc /scannow" at a command prompt. This will run the built-in system file checker to verify and fix any issues with system files, which includes the .NET Framework 2.0 (on Vista and Windows 7). Could you give that a try when you have a chance?
Thanks!
