I've seen other similar software with this functionality. I can point you to FileLocator by Mythicsoft, witch I use currently, but I'd really prefer using FileSeek, since it seems to have a lot more functionality and is prettier!

It wouldn't require FileSeek to be opened in background. It would require FileSeek to be always running and hooking the keyboard.
