All settings for FileSeek are stored in the registry (in HKCU\Software\Binary Fortress Software\FileSeek), and FileSeek doesn't create any new configuration or temporary files when running.

The last used searches do get stored in the registry, in the following keys:

HKCU\Software\Binary Fortress Software\FileSeek\LastUsedFilesExclude
HKCU\Software\Binary Fortress Software\FileSeek\LastUsedFilesInclude
HKCU\Software\Binary Fortress Software\FileSeek\LastUsedPath

Does it update the file dates on any of the files on the host computer?

Would the search strings for individual searches ever get saved to the registry?

The settings are stored in the registry, but the default settings are generally good enough for a quick search if that's what you need. Though FileSeek is not truly portable, is it safe to say that is can be used from a memory stick. If I understand things correctly, FileSeek can be used from a memory stick, but all configuration/settings will be saved to the registry. Basically, every time the user executes FileSeek, the program will open (from a memory stick) as if it is being used for the first time. The only issue with FileSeek is that it isn't completely portable. It keeps track of it's settings using the registry, instead of an external file.
