Ok, the problem was the defaults for the new left-hand drop-downs. By default these are set to "match the query text" for files and folders. I was not using the query field, thus I got no hits.

May I suggest that the default of "match Query text or include files" for both drop-downs is how the product worked by default before these options were added and therefore might be a more appropriate default for those who have upgraded from a release without this new feature?

Also, if the query field is empty, it might make sense to ignore the drop-down settings if they is set to query match only.

My 2 cents...

Jon,

I updated to 1.9.4 today, and ran a file search. Not finding the file, I began to believe I had somehow erased a download. Then when I tried the download again, the file save dialog showed me that the missing file was in a directory I had searched.

Doing a rudimentary *.* search (include files) with 1.9.4 in the C:\ (path) found nothing (all other fields blank). I tried using the new search options, but could not find anything. I tried file part searches like file*.* file* *file*, etc., to no avail. Even a search for a full name, no cigar.

Reverting to v1.9.1, the search now works.

Um, what am I missing?
